SR-22 Certificate of Insurance in Florida
Driving is a privilege in Florida, not a right. When that privilege is suspended because of serious violations, the state may require proof that you carry proper insurance before allowing you back on the road. That proof often takes the form of an SR-22 certificate.
SR-22 is not insurance itself. It is a filing made by your insurer with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). It confirms you carry at least the minimum coverage required by Florida law.
If your case involves a DUI, Florida requires an FR-44 instead…with higher liability limits.
